Only in Texas

In today’s Washington Post Katrina Vanden Heuvel has a real nugget buried in her column about Republican efforts to suppress the Democratic vote in the coming election by legislating new requirements to qualify for voting.  In Texas a concealed handgun license is a sufficient for voter identification, but a university I.D. card is not.  She also mentions that 1 in 10 people of voting age do not have picture IDs.  Presumably one of them is the 96 year old black lady who was denied registration because she failed to produce a copy of her marriage certificate.  I read elsewhere that in the last election there were 86 prosecutions nationally for voter fraud.
